Album Release Date 26th May 2017
Psychedelic pop rock band Maia are currently on tour promoting their third album, Wild Waters, and their newly-released single Jessica. Audiences love their witty banter, relaxed vibe and brilliant musicianship and the Leeds-based quartet were enthusiastically received at the prestigious Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, where they played to an audience of 20,000 people. Other highlights have included two live sessions on BBC Radio 4s ‘Loose Ends’, ‘Time Out’ magazines Album of the Week for their previous album release, Pepper Stars, as well as winning the ‘Yorkshire Gig Guide’ award for Outstanding Live Band.
Drawing influences from the likes of Pink Floyd, David Bowie and The Beach Boys, Wild Waters delivers ornate jungle guitars and shimmering mandolins on a bed of Earth-driven, turbulent Aztec grooves. At times, folk elements are distorted and sown across harmonious fields of luscious golden vocals. This psychedelic mayhem is tamed and woven together by rivers of guitars, coiling banjos and blitzing organ.
The 9 track album Wild Waters was recorded & produced by Mercury nominated Choque Hosein at Gaudi Rooms Studios on the outskirts of Leeds.
