Variety reports that Lindsey Buckingham has parted ways with Fleetwood Mac — reportedly being fired after a dispute over touring. Buckingham’s last performance with the band was in January, when the group were MusiCares Person of the Year honorees preceding the Grammys.
The veteran rockers have recruited a couple of ringers to handle Buckingham’s parts. Mike Campbell of Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers and Neil Finn of Crowded House will join Fleetwood Mac on a tour with dates to be announced shortly.
“We are thrilled to welcome the musical talents of the caliber of Mike Campbell and Neil Finn into the Mac family. With Mike and Neil, we’ll be performing all the hits that the fans love, plus we’ll be surprising our audiences with some tracks from our historic catalogue of songs,” said the band in a statement. “Fleetwood Mac has always been a creative evolution. We look forward to honoring that spirit on this upcoming tour.”
