Manchester legends James will release a brand new four-track EP to coincide with their already-announced tour of intimate venues in May.
The Better Than That EP is the band’s first release since the hugely successful album Girl at the End of the World in 2016; an album that was only kept from the top spot in the charts by Adele (mirroring their second placing of Sit Down in 1991 behind Chesney Hawkes’ The One and Only).
The EP was produced by the Mercury and Brit award-winning Charlie Andrew (Wolf Alice) and is released as a limited edition 10” vinyl record on May 18th, and will be available in all regular stores, while a special webstore exclusive CD will only be available from the band’s official store.
As well as the lead track, Better Than That (which is available to stream and download now), there are new tunes Busted (previewed on some live dates last year), Hank, and Broken by the Hurt. The remaining songs will be unveiled every second Wednesday until May 16th.
The band’s tour dates are:
Wednesday, May 16th – Llandudno, Venue Cymru
Thursday, May 17th – Warrington, Parr Hall
Saturday, May 19th – Blackburn, King Georges
Sunday, May 20th – Halifax, Victoria Theatre
Tuesday, May 22nd – Middlesbrough, Town Hall
Wednesday, May 23rd – Oban, Corran Hall
Friday, May 25th – Scunthorpe, Baths Hall
Support comes from Lanterns on the Lake.
The band then undertakes a summer of festivals with appearances at Common People in Southampton and Oxford, Latitude, Kendal Calling, Party at the Palace (West Lothian), Electric Fields (Dumfries and Galloway) as well as Lisbon’s Rock in Rio Festival and Bilbao in Spain.
