For seven years now LIVE publishers have given awards for the best in the music business, to those who push the boundaries and demonstrate extraordinary talent. They are awarded to the most hardworking, including the promoters, venues and festival organisers.
The 21,000 votes for 22 categories and nominations in July have been counted and will be released at the ceremony on October 12 2016. You can view all the awards and the nominations here.
The finalists for best festivals are as follows:
Best Festival (40,000+ cap)
- Latitude , Suffolk
- Isle of Wight Festival
- Barclaycard presents British Summer Time, London
Best Festival (15,000 – 39,999)
- Secret Garden Party, Cambridge
- Kendal Calling, Cumbria
- Splendour Festival, Nottingham
Best Festival (cap under 15,000)
- Slam Dunk Festival
- Festival No6, North Wales
- Dot to Dot Festival, various
These are of no surprise; Latitude was fantastic this year and some of the more known festivals such as Glastonbury had a hard time with the weather. It’s not been forgotten though and rightly two of the best best live acts this year are nominated for “Spectacle of the Year” :
- Coldplay, Glastonbury Festival
- Beyonce, Wembley Stadium
- Muse, Drones Tour, Glastonbury Festival
We think that British Summer Time might sneak the best 40k+ festival simply because Florence and the Machine had the entire festival singing. Although the competition is fierce as we’re yet to find a mature music lover who wasn’t Rockin all over the Isle of Wight to Status Quo this summer. Which festival did you think was the best this year?
