With everything going on this week, it would have been easy to forget that new music videos were hitting screens across the globe. Now that the election is over, it might be a good time to change the channel and take a look back because there were some incredible videos were debuted.
Marilyn Manson cut off Donald Trump’s head in the video for “SAY10”. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds unveiled another mesmerizing black and white video, this time for “Magneto”. Schoolboy Q teamed up with E-40 for “Dope Dealer”.
Here are the videos that had us distracted from all the other events of the week:
Marilyn Manson – “SAY10” – Directed by Tyler Shields
New music from Marilyn Manson always turns heads, and so do video featuring a decapitated Donald Trump. With “SAY10”, Manson has done both. Is there anything else that needs to be said?
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – “Magneto”
Warning! Contains flashing light or other strobing content that could affect those with photosensitive epilepsy
The videos from Skeleton Tree have all been magnetic and haunting, much like the album itself. Pulsing lights flicker throughout the sound studio as Cave croons his melancholy.
Mary J. Blige – “Thick Of It”
Mary J. Blige belts out “Thick Of It” in a gold mirrored room. There are a few costume changes, but the video focuses on Blige and her setting, sometimes simplicity is for the best.
Mac Miller – “Stay”
Mac Miller couldn’t have picked a more serene setting for his video for “Stay”. Featuring Miller on a sandy beach surrounded by sea, mountains and a setting sun, he is completely alone in a place no one would ever want to leave.
ScHoolboy Q – “Dope Dealer” [ft. E-40]
In the video for “Dope Dealer”, Schoolboy Q and E-40 give an insider look at the cannabis business. Anyone wondering how weed gets from the plant to its purchaser need only to watch.
